Issue:
An error has been identified in products manufactured before Feb 2025, which may lead to an increase in phase noise.

Solution:
The following components in the Loop Filter of the 1GHz PLL needs to be replaced (SYSCLK PLL Doubler – DISABLE) for an external or internal TCXO/OCXO/XO source:

• 100MHz: R37 – 470R 0805; C13 – 820pF NP0 0805; C15 – 56pF NP0 0805
• 40-50MHz: R37 – 1k 0805; C13 – 390pF NP0 0805; C15 – 27pF NP0 0805
• 20-25MHz: R37 – 2.2k 0805; C13 – 180pF NP0 0805; C15 – 10pF NP0 0805

 

If you intend to use a 10MHz reference source, such as an OCXO, keep in mind that the internal multiplier is limited to ×66, meaning the maximum achievable frequency is 660MHz. However, the PLL includes a SYSCLK PLL Doubler, which allows doubling the 10MHz input to 20MHz. Using the internal multiplier (×50), this results in a 1GHz output frequency.

To achieve this firmware modifications are required and component values should be selected according to the 20MHz configuration.

 

Replacing these components will significantly reduce phase noise.
